AMC Theatres' New Shrek-Themed Popcorn Bucket Is Shaped Like an Outhouse

AMC Theatres is releasing a Shrek-themed popcorn bucket shaped like the beloved character's outhouse
The collectible coincides with Shrek's 25th anniversary, and the film's return to theaters on May 15
Shrek 5, featuring the original cast and Zendaya, is set to release in 2027
AMC Theatres has revealed a new collectible popcorn bucket to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Shrek.
In an Instagram post, the theater chain announced the novelty popcorn bucket — and it's shaped like Shrek's outhouse from the film.
"In the morning, we're making waffles, but tonight, it's popcorn! Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Shrek with The Outhouse popcorn collectible. Large popcorn included," the chain wrote in the caption.
Fans can pick up the collectible beginning May 1. The release of the popcorn bucket coincides with the classic film's return to theaters, beginning May 15. Tickets for the movie are available now.
"We've seen incredible fan excitement around our collectible popcorn buckets, and ‘The Outhouse' design is such a fun, nostalgic way to celebrate a film that continues to resonate with audiences 25 years later," a spokesperson for AMC tells PEOPLE.
First released in 2001, Shrek was beloved by both critics and audiences, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and grossing nearly $500 million at the box office. The film spun into a franchise, which included three other Shrek sequels and a series of Puss in Boots spin-off films.

Shrek 5 is set for release in 2027. In February 2025, Universal Pictures released a cast announcement for the film, revealing that Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy will all return, with the inclusion of Zendaya as Shrek and Fiona's daughter.
AMC is no stranger to cheeky popcorn buckets.
In 2024, their specialty bucket for Dune: Part Two, which was designed to resemble the fictional planet Arrakis' iconic spaceworms, became a viral phenomenon on social media. The bucket generated conversation for its unorthodox design, which some interpreted as explicit.
AMC is also releasing a popcorn bucket inspired by The Devil Wears Prada 2, out May 1. The red popcorn bucket is shaped like a purse, and features a chain with a tag of the film's name and a gold charm in the shape of a shoe with a pitchfork as a heel. AMC is also offering dark 3D-glasses with the same logo on the arms.
