Twenty years after Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper and Paul Rudd brought Three Days of Rain to Broadway, Richard Greenberg's acclaimed drama is returning to New York City with another all-star cast.
Producers announced on Thursday, June 25, that David Corenswet, Yvonne Strahovski and François Arnaud will lead the first Broadway revival of the drama, set to begin performances in February 2027 at a Shubert theater to be announced. Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County, Eureka Day) will direct the production.
Corenswet, best known for playing Clark Kent/Superman in James Gunn's DC franchise, and Arnaud — who gave a breakout performance in Heated Rivalry — will both make their Broadway debuts in the production. Corenswet is currently filming Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel slated for release next summer.
Strahovski, meanwhile, returns to the boards for the first time since making her debut in Lincoln Center Theater's 2012 revival of Golden Boy. The Australian actress is best known for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of Serena Joy Waterford on Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, as well as her part in the NBC comedy series Chuck.
"Three Days of Rain is truly one of the most beautiful plays I've ever done or experienced," Shapiro said in a statement. "Steeped in the brilliantly funny and enchantingly complex world of Richard Greenberg, the story follows two generations of New York intelligentsia as they navigate the burden of family, the seduction of art and the necessity of love over time and eternity."

The play unfolds as a mystery centered on inheritance — both literal and emotional — as adult children attempt to make sense of what their parents left behind. Corenswet will play Walker and Ned, a son and father separated by decades but linked by a family mystery. Strahovski takes on the dual roles of actress Nan and her mother, Lina, while Arnaud will portray Pip and Theo, the father-son pairing at the center of the drama's exploration of legacy.
Three Days of Rain premiered off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club in 1997 and was later named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
The play made its Broadway debut in 2006 in a highly anticipated production directed by Joe Mantello that paired Roberts, Cooper and Rudd. The limited engagement drew intense attention as Roberts' Broadway debut and helped introduce Cooper to theater audiences years before his rise to movie stardom.
This revival will also mark a celebration of Greenberg's enduring theatrical legacy. The Tony-winning playwright, whose works include Take Me Out and The Assembled Parties, died of cancer in 2025 at 67. Throughout this prolific, four-decade career, he produced more than 30 plays and was widely regarded as one of the foremost chroniclers of upper-middle-class American life onstage.
Further casting for Three Days of Rain as well as production dates and a full creative team will be announced in the coming weeks. To sign up for first access tickets visit threedaysofrain.com.
