Jimmy Kimmel joked that President Donald Trump being distantly related to the visiting King Charles III is similar to the plot of 1991 movie King Ralph.

The comedy depicted Goodman's Ralph Jones as next in line for the throne following an accident.

Kimmel and Trump have heightened their war of words in recent days.

Just one day after President Donald Trump again called for Jimmy Kimmel to be fired, the late-night host riffed on the U.S. leader welcoming King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the White House this week.

After noting that Trump had posted a story saying that he and Charles might be related, Kimmel couldn't help but compare it to a 1991 John Goodman comedy.

"You know, this idea that Trump might be the king's distant cousin is exactly the plot of King Ralph," the comedian joked on Tuesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live. "Look it up. It's spot on."

King Ralph, which Goodman filmed when he was on popular sitcom Roseanne, is about an American who found himself the king of England after the royal family is lost in an accident. Turns out, he's the closest surviving relative.

The movie costars Peter O'Toole, John Hurt, and Joely Richardson. Its poster shows Ralph, wearing jeans, a Las Vegas T-shirt, and tennis shoes, sitting in a gaudy gold throne and grinning.

Kimmel also mocked the fact that Australian flag — and not the Union Jack — had accidentally gone up in the capital city to welcome Charles and Camilla.

"It was a literal false flag operation going on there," Kimmel joked.

The war of words between the talk show host and Trump has heated up in recent days, as the president and first lady both called for ABC to fire Kimmel for a joke in his Thursday night show about Melania Trump looking like "an expectant widow."

Kimmel explained Monday that his joke was about the president's age, but after the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday, the first lady issued a statement about Kimmel's comments.

"His words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America," she wrote on social media. "People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate."

She went on to call for "ABC to take a stand."

Kimmel responded sardonically on his show that his comment "obviously was a joke about their age difference and the look of joy we see on her face every time they're together.... It was a very light roast joke about the fact that [Trump] is almost 80 and she's younger than I am."

The president called Kimmel’s comment a "despicable call to violence" in a Truth Social post on Monday, adding "Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC."

In Tuesday's show, Kimmel noted the president's remark earlier in the day that he and Melania wouldn't make it to their 63rd wedding anniversary as his parents had.

"Did he just make a joke about his death? He should be fired for that," Kimmel cracked.
