First Lady Melania Trump shed light on her childhood during a live interview at President Donald Trumpās IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix event in Washington, D.C., as reported by The Mirror.
While speaking with Fox Sports commentator Jamie Little, the first lady said she āloved every minuteā of the race before and discussed how she developed her love of automobiles.
Melania Trump Says āMy Father Introduced Me to Races And To Race Carsā
During the interview, the First Lady revealed, āWhen I was growing up, my father introduced me to races and to race cars, and he owned some incredible cars ā [including] a Maserati, Cougar, Mustang, Mercedes. So he introduced me to the design of cars, and the mechanics, and also the speed.ā
For context, Melania Trump was born and raised in Sevnica, Slovenia, as Melanija Knavs. She lived in a Communist-era apartment building overlooking a local river and factory chimneys before moving to the United States in 1996 to pursue a modeling career.
During the Grand Prix event, she also highlighted her āFostering the Futureā initiative, which supports young adults leaving foster care.
āFostering the Future provides scholarships at the university level within [the] foster care community. And itās very important, because we need to support them,ā Melania said, according to The Mirror.
āThey need to have the same opportunities as other children, and Iām very proud to say that we had the first doctor graduating, and we now have 26 universities across the country that have foster students [as a result of the initiative]. I encourage every governor in every state to sign in and support foster children,ā she added.
Her remarks came after a Rose Garden event on Thursday, where she shared plans to expand the initiativeās network, which is supported by a $2 million donation from IndyCar and Fox Corporation to fund scholarships at Indiana University and Purdue University, as reported by The Washington Examiner.
