Lorraine Kelly made an error during her titular talk show on Friday, Feb. 27, which she had to address in the middle of a fashion segment
The false reporting was news about a performer at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest
While issuing the correction on the live broadcast, Kelly joked that "it's really important" to "get these things right"
Everybody makes mistakes!
Scottish host Lorraine Kelly interrupted a fashion segment during the Friday, Feb. 27 broadcast of her titular talk show, Lorraine, to update viewers after sharing wrong information live on air.
While she previously claimed that Boy George would be representing Italy alongside an Italian singer at the annual Eurovision Song Contest, Kelly revealed that wasn’t actually accurate.

“Mark, I've just had breaking news,” she told style presenter Mark Heyes. “Boy George is not Italy. It's not us either, it's San Marino.”
San Marino, the nation Boy George is set to perform for, is a landlocked country in northeastern Italy, making confusion surrounding its independence a common mistake. It has competed in Eurovision 15 times before, first participating in 2008, but it has never won.
The Culture Club artist will reportedly be singing a song called “Superstar” with San Marino native Senhit.
“You have to get these things right, it's really important,” Kelly quipped as Heyes chuckled.
He then joked that he was “glad” the British Musician wasn’t representing the United Kingdom, “because we never win anyway.”

“I know, it’s very embarrassing,” Kelly replied. Their skepticism of the U.K.’s ability to take home the victory is due to the country’s pattern of losses in recent years — the last time they won was in 1997 when Katrina and the Waves sang, “Love Shine a Light.”
Kelly further speculated that Boy George “will win” since he is competing for San Marino, before changing the subject back to the segment on Spring dresses.

The Eurovision Song Contest is the world’s largest live music show and Europe’s most-watched live entertainment program. Since its debut in 1956, the event has launched the careers of several big names, including Céline Dion, Olivia Newton-John, ABBA and Julio Iglesias.
According to the official website, Eurovision is coordinated by the European Broadcasting Union. Each year, every participating member submits an original song to represent their nation, which is then performed by a select artist.
The 2026 contest, which has taken place every year since 1956, is being held in May in Vienna, Austria, after the country's win last year with "Wasted Love," performed by Austrian singer JJ (Johannes Pietsch).
For the first time ever, Eurovision was broadcast live across the U.S. via Logo TV and YouTube in 2020.

In 2022, NBC launched the American Song Contest, hosted by Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson, during which fifty-six artists performed to represent the 50 states, five U.S. territories and Washington, D.C. throughout three rounds. Oklahoma won the inaugural season, with K-pop singer AleXa performing her song, "Wonderland.”
