Teddy Swims joined the fatherhood club just 10 months ago, and heās opening up about how itās influencing his musical direction. The āLose Controlā singer dished on his journey as a parent during his Stagecoach pop-up at T-Mobileās exclusive Club Magenta hospitality space.
Club Magenta welcomed guests at Stagecoach with open arms, providing an upscale escape from the California heat where T-Mobile customers remained plugged-in while still able to enjoy countryās best artists, right from the comfort of the club. During a private Q&A chat at T-Mobile's Club Magenta, Teddy was asked what the next version of himself will look and sound like, and where he pulls his inspiration from now that heās a dad of one.
āWell, it's a tough question. [Itās] coming from life, I guess, like going through a bit of a situation with my baby mother. A little heartbreak you know,ā Teddy, 33, responded. āSo, yeah, it's gonna be rock and roll, man, you know? Yeah, I'm really happy. I'm in a good place. And I got a 10 month old, so, you know, he just turned 10 months old yesterday, and he's the sweetest kid in the world. So trying to make everything not about being a dad is the hard part because nobody wants to hear just nothing but dad tunes.ā

Swims became a father in June 2025 after welcoming a son with his longtime partner, Raiche Wright. The couple first went public in 2024 and announced the birth in a joint Instagram post the following year. Since then, Swims has continued to share glimpses about his journey with fatherhood, and, so far, heās enjoying the ride.
Swimsā most recent project, Iāve Tried Everything But Therapy Part 2 (2025), earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. He first got his start uploading covers to YouTube, with his performances of songs like Shania Twainās āYouāre Still The Oneā accumulating millions of views and landing him a record deal with Warner Music in 2020.
Following his major label debut and first headline tour, Swims quickly made himself a household name, earning his first Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2023. Over the years, heās been candid about feeling the need to prove himselfāsomething heās still grappling with today.
āI feel like, to me, I guess. Not to like the world, I guess ā but to me, I want to be the best,ā Teddy replied. āAnd again, to my son. I want him to think I am cool, and so just want [him] to be proud of me,ā he exclusively told guests exclusively inside Club Magenta.
Teddy then revealed that his dad, Rodney Hampton, was there to support him at Stagecoach and he expressed he wishes to one day be able to provide that same support to his son ā whether his son decides to follow in his footsteps or not.
āOne day, I hope that my son maybe, hopefully, would want to do this,ā he explained. āIf not, I'm supporting whatever he wants to do. But I think like, my dad watching me, how proud he is, and being like, āHow cool would that be one day to be like, I'm so proud of my son too,ā and he gets to watch me do this and be proud of his dad. It's kind of a beautiful thing. I miss him. I get to see him tomorrow, so I'm so excited y'all.ā
