Tucker Carlson is ready to destroy the Republican Party

Tucker Carlson is likely to emerge as a 2028 candidate

Tucker Carlson, the one-time king of American cable news-turned-conspiracist podcaster, made waves this month by releasing a 10-point vision for America that bears suspicious resemblance to a presidential campaign platform.

It’s true that the 10 points are themselves pretty anodyne. It’s also true that Maga apostate Marjorie Taylor Greene, the former Georgia congresswoman who attended the Maine summit at which the talking points were seemingly cooked up, has explicitly said that Carlson is ā€œnot running for presidentā€ in 2028.

And it’s true that Carlson, who spits bile for a living while savaging erstwhile allies and hawking India-made nicotine products, is not the best messenger for a platform emphasising principles that include sovereignty, health, honesty and unity.

But I’m still convinced he’s priming himself for a presidential run. Indeed, I’ve been saying for some time that Carlson is likely to run for president in 2028.

Carlson once enjoyed a very close relationship with Donald Trump but since his removal from the Fox News network and subsequent descent into conspiracy-baiting lunacy, he has become an acerbic critic.

Carlson, who claimed to have wrestled a demon that left him scarred by claw wounds, has called Trump a ā€œbitchā€ and insinuated the president may be the Antichrist. As criticism of Trump grows louder, in my opinion, so the probability of him running for to succeed him increases.

Indeed, that criticism has grown much louder. At this point, it’s positively deafening. But what about Carlson’s long-time friend JD Vance, the US vice-president?

Carlson was a major supporter of Vance in 2024 and he publicly still stands by the Veep. Well, kind of: In a recent interview, Carlson said Vance is currently in a ā€œhorrible situationā€, presumably because he finds himself second-in-power to the Antichrist. ā€œAnd every day,ā€ Carlson added: ā€œI feel sorry for JD Vance.ā€

This looks like the beginning of a turn. Such a turn would be consistent with how Carlson has treated others who have defended him amidst his descent into brain-rot cesspool conspiracism, such as Kevin Roberts of The Heritage Foundation.

At some point, Vance, given his 2028 White House hopes, will be asked to distance himself firmly from Carlson. Vance is an ambitious man, and, hand finally forced, he will do what he must. If anything, this month’s 10-point plan serves as a good excuse for him to sever ties. I predict Carlson will respond in kind, denouncing Vance – who, unlike Carlson, famously grew up dirt-poor without a silver spoon in his mouth – as a faux-populist traitor and ā€œEpstein classā€ sellout.

It’s possible that this whole saga plays out as I’ve predicted it will but Carlson still does not pull the trigger on a 2028 run. But the effect will be the exact same. Perhaps someone else – such as Greene or Kentucky congressman Thomas Massie – will seek the presidency on Carlson’s skeletal platform. Perhaps there will be no actual third-party run, and this month’s Maine summit will amount to little more than the launch of a concerted Republican Party demoralisation operation. As Carlson has said, after all, he no longer supports the GOP.

American politics, for better or worse, operates as a two-party system. If someone spends all his time criticising the Republicans and trying to convince Republican-sympathising Americans not to vote, then he is helping the Democrats. That may sound reductive, but it actually is that simple.

Carlson is doing this because the GOP is the party of the American Right, because the American Right offers the only possible hope of saving the nation from the Leftists who seek its destruction, and because Carlson now shares their goal of destroying America in its current form. He reveals this when he praises sharia law, downplays Islamic jihad, rewrites Nazism and promotes the Chinese Communist Party, Vladimir Putin, the terrorist Iranian regime and even NicolƔs Maduro before he was deposed.

The ā€œAmericaā€ Carlson now seeks is a pro-sharia, pro-Communist China America. Tucker Carlson’s America looks a lot like Zohran Mamdani’s New York.

As the expression goes, if it walks, swims, and quacks like a duck, then it’s probably a duck. Carlson is an America-hating Leftist crank. He will use his platform in the lead-up to 2028 to try to destroy the Maga coalition and the entire Republican Party – and, by extension, America too.
