Will there be another season of “The Bachelor”? Inside the franchise's future amid the Taylor Frankie Paul fallout

ABC has renewed The Bachelor for a 30th season.

As of this writing, a Bachelor has yet to be chosen.

It's slated to premiere in early 2027.

The Bachelor franchise is in disarray.

In March 2026, just days before the premiere of a new Bachelorette season led by Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul, ABC scrapped the season amid allegations of domestic abuse against Paul. (In April, the Salt Lake City District Attorney's Office declined to file charges against the reality star.)

It was an unprecedented move by the network, casting a dark shadow across a franchise that's long presented itself as a fairy tale. It didn't help, either, that season 4 of Mormon Wives, which debuted in March, showed Paul sleeping with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, before leaving to film The Bachelorette, casting doubt on her desire to find a long-term partner on the show.

Has the world simply grown too cynical for a show as featherlight as The Bachelor? Reports of falling ratings have percolated for years, and the Los Angeles Times reported in March 2025 that season 29 was down nearly a million viewers from season 28.

Well, ABC isn't throwing in the towel just yet.

"The Bachelor franchise is not going anywhere," said Rob Mills, executive vice president of unscripted at Walt Disney Television, in an April chat with The Hollywood Reporter. He also confirmed that both The Bachelor and spinoff Bachelor in Paradise would return in 2027.

Below is everything we know so far about season 30 of The Bachelor.

Yes, The Bachelor was renewed for a 30th season in June 2025, with Deadline reporting that Scott Teti would take over as showrunner. Teti was an executive producer and showrunner on the latest season of Paradise, which aired last summer.

In recent interviews, Mills confirmed to both THR and Deadline that season 30 is in the works. He acknowledged to Deadline that the series was going through "growing pains."

“The Bachelor is almost a perfect format and it is really powerful. It's over two decades old, and it’s seen really good days and really bad days," he told the outlet. "But it's always had a lot of resilience, especially when the people making it really, really care about it, because that fan base also really cares about it," he told Deadline.

When the show returns, he emphasized, "it will be done with a lot of thoughtfulness and care."

The same goes for other iterations of the franchise, including The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and The Golden Bachelor.

"Whatever the right stories are for us to tell, that's what we're going to tell," Mills told THR. "I think when we have the right people to tell whatever iteration of The Bachelor franchise, we're going to tell it. That also goes for the Golden Bachelor and whoever else's story we can tell in this incredible format."

As of this writing, the next Bachelor has yet to be announced.

While there's been plenty of names bandied about for who could be the next Bachelorette — The Traitors'' Maura Higgins and Summer House's Ciara Miller among them — there's been less speculation so far regarding a future Bachelor.

Since the show is slated for a 2027 premiere, the announcement will likely come sometime in the late summer or fall.

Mills confirmed to THR that season 30 is slated to arrive during ABC's midseason in 2027. That's common for the series, which typically premieres in January.
